SMART Reset!
March 17, 2007

Ok, so I had unofficially taken myself out of SMART Habit Saturday because I’ve found myself completely UNmotivated. For the last three weeks I have NOT consistently exercised, drank my water, read my Bible, cleaned my kitchen before bed, tidied the living room before bed, or made my beds daily. None of my goals have become habits. And it is no ones fault but my own. So, I’ve decided to reset once again! I am not a quitter by nature and I’m not going to give up. I’m going to try again!!!

Rather than start from scratch I’m just going to try and enforce all of my goals as habits this week. I may be biting off more than I can chew, but on the days when I accomplished every one of my goals I felt great. I need this in my life. I need to change my ways and I am determined to do so. I still don’t feel very motivated, but I’m taking it to God. I should have done so from the get go! But, I didn’t! Now I am! I can do all things through Him and how did I even think I would get anywhere with these goals by not giving them to Him?

I really need to come up with a realistic time frame to work on my blog and read ALL the others I so enjoy. Blogging has become a real distraction for me. I don’t want to give it up at all, but I need to really set some boundaries for it. So, this week I’m going to really think about it and I will have a goal for this come next Saturday.

I said in my post yesterday that I was signing off for the weekend, but after reading An Ordinary Moms post for today I just had to get back in. Thank you An Ordinary Mom for your words of encouragement and inspiration. Thank you Lara for hosting this and encouraging us all to make some life changes that will benefit us as well as our families! Please go visit Lara for more information onย SHS. It’s not too late to join in. It’s never too late to make a change! ๐Ÿ™‚

SMART Habit Saturday Week 7
February 17, 2007

I’m sorry I missed last week, but it was crazy busy around here with the celebration of my son’s 1st Birthday!!!

Last week I had planned to set the goal of making the beds everyday. This is actually what I started doing the week I was supposed to be taking off to work on making my other goals into Habits!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Week 1: Exercise 5 days a week! I had two, maybe three, weeks that I was not able to make it all 5 days. This really is becoming a habit for me and I hate not to make it!

Week 2: Drink 40 oz. of water a day. Ok, this one has been my hardest habit to make. I decided I would reset this goal with 20 oz. of water a day and I’m doing it. Once I make this a habit I will up the intake!

Week 3: Clean kitchen before bed. I’ve been doing pretty good with this one with the exception of this week. I’ve really been in a funk this week and let the house go. But, I’m heading out of it and the house is starting to look like a home again!

Week 4: Living room pick up before bed. Same as above. It didn’t look near as bad as my kitchen did, but it looks really good now! It’s been the easiest room to keep picked up!

Week 5: Supposed to be my week off to concentrate on the five goals that were not yet habits, but I added making the beds daily to my list. I did great with this except, again, for this week. We are also redoing our main bath and everything from that bathroom is all over my bedroom and family room. But, I bought the cutest baskets to organize all that stuff and organize my linen closet! Yeah!

Week 6: I missed last week, but you would have gotten what you just got now! Ha. That is the worst sentence I have ever written! So, we’ll say that technically week 6 was my off week!

Week 7: Can you believe we are already on week 7? Wow! Ok, so for this week I’m going to add reading from the Bible daily. One of my New Year’s goals is to read the Bible in its entirety and this will help me make it there. I won’t set a limit to what I read because somedays I may be able to read a whole book, while other day may just be a few verses.

So, I can’t wait to see how you all are doing. This is an uphill battle for me, but it will be well worth it! Make sure you go to Lara’s site The Lazy Organizer to check out more SMARTies and send them some words of encouragement! ๐Ÿ™‚

SMART Habit Saturday ~ Week 5
February 3, 2007

Ok, SMARTies, I have to tell you it’s been a bad week here! Not really bad in the sense that something bad happened, but that I have been bad! I feel like everytime I publicly declare to do something I’m just setting myself up for failure. I will not give up!!!

I really didn’t do much of anything thing this week. I only exercised one day. In my defense we had Doughnuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms, and a two hour delay (for snow of which there was none) this week. I go exercise as soon as I drop off my daughter at school and get back to the house just in time for hubby to leave for work. So, I didn’t have time to do so those few days this week. But, I could’ve gone when my hubby got home and I didn’t.

I drank not even one single solitary drop of water this week. Unless, ofcourse, you want to count coffee, tea or Pepsi!

I did, however, do a decent job keeping the kitchen and living room picked up. Not great but I will give myself decent! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, because I seem to have lost some motivation and am being utterly lazy, I will not postย a new habit this week. My goal for the week will be to accomplish all of the habits I have declared thus far! I guess, technically, that could be my habit for the week! ๐Ÿ˜‰ You know, to do the habits I haven’t yet made habits!

I’m rambling and I’m tired. So, to all of you ladies who are doing great and to those who are not I say, You Go Girl! You can do it! WE can do it together!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. What are your plans? Anything fun? I mean besides Super Bowl Sunday ofcourse! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m not a big fan of professional football, but I love to watch the Super Bowl!

Now go on over to the wonderful mastermind behind SMART Habit Saturday, Lara, and check out all the wonderful ladies and the gentleman participating. Go give them a few words of encouragement. It’s not too late to join in either! Thanks for stopping by!

SMART Habit Saturday Week 4
January 27, 2007

Week 4 of SMART Habit Saturday, Wow! Time flies when you are having fun!!! My previous goals have been:

Week 1 – Exercise 5 days a week

Week 2 – Drink 40 oz. of water daily

Week 3 – Clean kitchen before bed

I have been doing really good (I think) with week 1 and week 2 goals! I missed one day of exercise and two days of kitchen clean up. With the kitchen, though, cleaning it up the next morning was a breeze because I’ve been keeping it clean during the day! But, with the water I am doing pretty bad! I will continue to work on it and hope to find success!

This week I will add another household goal! I will do a living room pick-up before putting the kids down for bed. That way they (okay well just my daughter) will be able to help pick up her mess, too! We are trying to be disciplined when it comes to putting up things as we go, but it is an ongoing process!

Joe’s Goals has been a great motivator! And, I do believe some of the other participants in SMART Habit Saturday are enjoying it as well!

If you would like to participate in SMART Habit Saturday, or just check out what everyone else is up to, head on over to Lara’s site! I really think this is a great thing to be a part of! You get to improve your life, get encouragement from others, and give encouragement to others! Check it out, you won’t be sorry!

Have a great weekend!!!

SMART Habit Saturday ~ 1/20/07
January 20, 2007

It is week three of SMART Habit Saturday! The first week I didn’t officially join in, but I started exercising 30 minutes a day at a local gym for ladies! I feel I’ve done really good at this goal. I missed Monday & Tuesday of this week because my son has a case of chicken pox and we had some rough nights. I’m glad to say that he is on the mend and we are back to sleeping through the night, Yeah!!!

My second goal is to drink 40 ounces of water a day. I wanted to start with 40 and work my way up to 64! Well, I did not do well this week. Monday and Tuesday I did not drink any water. But, Wednesday & Thursday I got 20 ounces down. Yesterday I drank close to 60 ounces and decided to take the advice of Lucy (modified for me) and filled up a pitcher with 64 ounces of water and will keep it in the fridge. Now, looking in the refrigerator I will see my water and hope it will deter me from drinking anything else until I drink it all gone! I will continue to work on both of these until they become a habit.

I thought about not posting another goal until these become habits, but I decided I would add something else to my day. Something unrelated to fitness! My new goal for this week is to clean the kitchen before bed. Some of the ladies participating are doing this as well. I have used FlyLady off and on for close to 6 years and the first thing she tells you to do is Shine Your Sink. Well, when I do this it really does make a difference. When the kitchen is clean it helps to motivate me to keep the rest of the house clean! Really! So, that is my goal for the week.

I do have to tell you about a site I found through Susie. I wrote about it in a previous post, but not all of you visit my site regularly. So, I will share with you again. It is the site Joe’s Goals. You can input your goals and keep track of them through his site. You can then uploadย a tracker to your blog so everyone can see where you stand.

Becky's Personal Score Badge

It is a great way to keep you motivated because you can see your status daily. He will also remind you if you haven’t updated in a few days! It really is great! Go check it out! I think it goes great with SMART Habit Saturday!

If you have some goals you would like to accomplish this year this is a great way to do it. You will have the support and encouragement of all the SMART participants and ofcourse from the mastermind behind it! Head on over to Lara’s site to learn more about SMART Habit Saturday and join in!

Have a great weekend! I’m off to help some friends paint and wallpaper their new house. So, if I don’t get to your blog today I will be there tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚
